Fatal Boating Incident on Lake of the Woods

A man died on Lake of the Woods after an incident that was reported via a 911 call received on October 18, 2025, at 3:41 p.m., according to a press release issued by Sheriff Gary Fish last week. 

The 911 caller reported a capsized boat on Lake of the Woods. 

"Emergency responders were dispatched to the scene. As a result of the incident, Brian Herridge, age 69, of Chaska, Minnesota, was later pronounced deceased," the press release stated. "The incident remains under investigation. No further details are available at this time."

Sheriff Fish indicated Monday, October 27, that an updated press release would be issued this week, but the Northern Light Region had not received it by the time this issue went to press.
