Bruce C. Bitzer Memorial Service

A memorial service will be held for Bruce C. Bitzer on Monday, September 5,2022 at 9:00 a.m.
The service will be at Zippel Hillside Cemetery. Following the service, family and friends are invited for food and fellowship at the home of Colleen and John Stanton on Zippel Bay (Bitzer Home Farm.)
Bruce Calvin Bitzer was born June 1, 1943, in Warroad, Minnesota to Alfred (Bud) and Stella Bitzer. He was their fourth child. He lived the first few years of his life in Williams until the family moved to the Minneapolis in the mid 1950’s. Bruce graduated from St. Louis Park Senior High.
Bruce entered the United States Navy in March of 1964. He served his county for four years during the Vietnam War working on jet aircrafts stateside.
After being in the military, Bruce worked in construction/carpentry trade for most of the remainder of his life.
Bruce always thought of Williams as “Up Home”. He would come home to visit family and friends. He loved to hunt and fish in the Lake of the Woods area. On his trips home, he would often visit Gladys and Alex Krohn, -His second set of parents. Bruce also loved to watch hockey. First the North Stars and then the Minnesota Wild. He also liked football and the Vikings. He was an avid reader, enjoying many western writers. He and Shelia liked to look for antiques that would decorate their home.
Bruce Bitzer passed away November 9, 2018, at the age of 75. He had been ill and entered
St.Gertrudes Health and Rehab Center in Shakopee, Minnesota having problems with kidneys and dialysis.
He is survived by his son, Brian, of Burnville, Granddaughter Brittany Swanson and family, of St. Cloud, Minnesota, stepchildren: Kristi, Vickie, Wendy, and Shawn, all of the Minneapolis area.
Siblings: Charlotte (Bitzer) TeHennepe, of Leonard, Minnesota, Hal and Keith Bitzer of Williams, Minnesota, Lee Bitzer of Amherst, Virginia, and Colleen Stanton (John) of Williams, Minnesota.
Wayne Young, Brother In-law of Williams, Minnesota, and Gloria Bitzer of Minneapolis, Minnesota, and many nieces and nephews.
