Lake of the Woods County Board Commissioners Meeting Proceedings

                                                               June 23, 2026

The Lake of The Woods County Board of Commissioners met in regular session on Tuesday, June 23,2026 at Lake of the Woods County Government Center in the Commissioners’ Room.

Chair Joe Grund called the meeting to order at 9:00a.m. and the Pledge of Allegiance was recited with the following members present: Commissioners: Joe Grund, Cody Hasbargen, Ed Arnesen, and Jon Waibel. Absent: Commissioner Buck Nordlof. Also present was County Auditor-Treasurer Lorene Hanson. 

Motion was made by Commissioner Cody Hasbargen, seconded by Commissioner Jon Waibel and carried unanimously to approve the agenda with the following changes: add Museum tour and Tobin Fishery update.

Motion was made by Commissioner Jon Waibel, seconded by Commissioner Ed Arnesen and carried unanimously to approve the official minutes of June 09, 2026.

Motion was made by Commissioner Jon Waibel, seconded by Commissioner Cody Hasbargen and carried unanimously to approve the official minutes for the Board of Equalization June 15, 2026.

Motion was made by Commissioner Ed Arnesen, seconded by Commissioner Jon Waibel and carried unanimously to approve the official minutes for the NWA meeting June 16, 2026.

Motion was made by Commissioner Cody Hasbargen, seconded by Commissioner Jon Waibel and carried unanimously to approve the following claims: Commissioners Warrants $2,994.57; Commissioners Warrants $1,287.40; Commissioners Warrants $10,631.97.

Motion was made by Commissioner Cody Hasbargen, seconded by Commissioner Ed Arnesen and carried unanimously to approve the claims against the County as follows: Revenue $103,241.94; Road & Bridge $84,812.04; County Development $300.00; Solid Waste $50,979.56; and EDA $1,519.11.

Further moved to authorize the payment of the following auditor warrants: June 10th for $70,391.19; June 17th for $61,940.41.

Public Works Director AJ Pirkl gave an update on the application of Calcium Chloride. The Board also discussed Tobin Fisheries.

Commissioners were given an update on the renovations at the Lake of the Woods Museum and a were given a tour of the renovations done at the museum by the Lake of the Woods Historical Society Executive Director Sam Clement.

Motion was made by Commissioner Cody Hasbargen, seconded by Commissioner Ed Arnesen and carried unanimously to amend the agenda to add a work session.

Motion was made by Commissioner Cody Hasbargen, seconded by Commissioner Ed Arnesen and carried unanimously to set a work session following the next board meeting.

Motion was made by Commissioner Cody Hasbargen, seconded by Commissioner Jon Waibel and carried unanimously to adjourn the meeting at 10:15 a.m.
