A funeral service for Garry L. Langton will be held on Saturday, November 2, 2024, at 11 a.m. at Helgeson Funeral Home in Roseau, MN. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the chapel. Interment will take place at Pine Hill Cemetery in Williams, MN.

Garry Langton was born on April 3, 1939, on the family farm in Bathgate, ND, to Wilbert and Mary (Copeland) Langton.  The family moved to Williams, MN, in the fall of 1939 when Garry was 6 months old.

Garry graduated from Williams High School in 1957.  He and Ione (Kent) were married on Sept. 5, 1959, at Williams Congregational Church.  They had four children.

Garry worked many jobs in his early years.  Some of those included a service station, logging in the woods and road construction.  They left Minnesota in 1963 and moved to Oregon.  They returned to Minnesota in 1967 and bought their farm in Salol.  Garry went to work at Polaris where he was a Union Chief Steward for many years.  He worked there for 34 years until he retired.

He enjoyed his farm in Salol where he raised cattle, pigs and horses.  In 50 years there never was a time with at least 1 horse on the place.

Garry and Ione loved to dance, enjoyed traveling, playing cards, and having a good visit with neighbors and friends—this tradition of playing cards carried on to his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. No one was ever a stranger to Garry long, as he loved to talk!

There are those who would say they didn’t know Garry, but if you asked if they knew the man in the red hat, they sure knew him!

Garry is survived by his sons: Scott (Julie) Langton of Salol, Kent (Lori) Langton of Akeley, Shawn (Renee) Langton of Texas, and foster son Chris (Susy) Nix of Salol, Ex daughter in law Christain Langton of Texas.
