Jack Allen Mitchell, 47

Jack Allen Mitchell, age 47, of Baudette, passed away on Sunday, June 9th, at Essentia Health in Fargo, ND, due to complications following a stroke.

Jack was born on January 2, 1977, at Trinity Hospital in Baudette to Sherrie Morrison Hodgson, currently of Warroad, and Mike Mitchell of Baudette.

Jack spent his childhood on a property along the Rapid River, adjacent to his grandparents' (Glenn and Helen Morrison) farm. He attended school in Baudette through 11th grade at Lake of the Woods School, completing his senior year in Moorhead, Minnesota. Jack briefly attended Emmaus Bible College in Iowa before earning his associate degree from Moorhead.

Jack’s love for sports, hunting, and fishing was nurtured by his father and four uncles, collectively known as "The Mitchell Boys": John, Tom, Jim, and Bob. Together, they spent countless hours hunting grouse on the Bankton and Rapid River trails.

In the early 1990s, Jack's life changed profoundly when he first attended Story Book Lodge, a Christian camp where he dedicated his life to the Lord and accepted Jesus Christ as his personal Savior. This camp remained a cherished place for him, and his eight children continue to attend Bible Camp there annually.

In August 2000, Jack married Dana Lynn Buria, and they began their family life in Salol before moving to Fargo, ND, and later to Glyndon, MN. In 2013, they returned to Baudette when Jack secured a position in IT at ANI, where he worked for the past 11 years. Jack was truly a "jack of all trades," with experience in manufacturing, sales, delivery, construction, roofing, cement work, and electrical work.

Jack and Dana have eight children: Xavier (Shaela), Logan, Alexander, Jack, Edmund, Piper, Olivia, and Maizey, ranging in age from 22 to 7. Jack was the second of four siblings: Jeri (Jeremy) Landby of Audubon, MN, Kristina (Mitchell) Beyak of Montrose, MN, and Michael (Hillary) Mitchell of Warren, MN. He was also a beloved uncle to ten nieces and nephews.

Jack is survived by his children, parents, and many extended family members, including aunts and uncles Vicki Morrison Goble (David Engels) of Brainerd, Roger (Tess) Morrison of Bemidji, Vane (Evon) Morrison of Norfolk, VA, Ann (Tom) Dawson of Virginia Beach, VA, Jim (Becky) Mitchell of Bossier City, LA, and numerous cousins. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Glenn and Helen Morrison and John and Pat Mitchell, and his uncles, Gary Morrison, John Mitchell, Tom Mitchell, and Bob Mitchell.

Jack's funeral will be held on Friday, June 28, at 11:00 am at the Evangelical Covenant Church in Baudette.

Jack's love for his family was surpassed only by his love for God.
