Willis Bitter, 83

Willis Martin Bitter was born November 26, 1939, in Genoa, OH. He graduated from Genoa High School in 1957. On February 23, 1963, he married Sharon Lynn Akenberger. They had three sons, Craig (Julie), Curt (Laurie), and Stephen (Sherri). Willis farmed and served in the Army Reserves. In 1973, he moved the family to Williams, MN, to expand his farming operation, which he operated until he retired.

Willis is survived by his three sons and their wives. Grandchildren Chelsea (Mike) Hintz, Courtney (Nick) Baade, Lindsey Bitter, Alex (Katherine) Bitter, Isaac (Emily) Bitter, and Nick Bitter. Great grandchildren Lucas, Liam, and Logan Hintz; Bella, Gracie, Leniore, Nixon, Albanee, and Gloria Baade; and Winston, Charlotte, and Owen Bitter. He is survived by his sister Carol Eckermann and brother Ted (Sharon) Bitter, as well as sisters-in-law Jean Snyder and Lois (Bob) Walters-Ebka, as well as many nieces and nephews and their children.

He is preceded in death by his wife of 60 years, Sharon Lynn Bitter; his parents Martin and Laura Bitter, brothers Paul Bitter and Lowell Bitter, brothers-in-law Richard Eckermann, Don and wife Joanne Akenberger, Ron and wife Peggy Akenberger, Louis Snyder, and Ronald Walters.

On Sunday, August 20, 2023, he stepped into the open arms of his Savior, Jesus Christ, after a brief battle with cancer and heart disease.
