Jason Borg LaValla, 45, of Williams, MN, passed away on January 26, 2023, at Sanford ICU in Bemidji, MN, after a long battle with alcohol abuse and finally succumbing to renal failure.

Jason was born on July 27, 1977, at Trinity Hospital Baudette to Mark and Sue (Borg) LaValla. He was baptized at 1st Congregational Church and graduated from Lake of the Woods High School.

He married Jaclyn (Jacki) Hennum on November 21, 1998, and his daughter Cadence Louise LaValla was born on November 22, 2003. Even though Jason and Jacki parted ways a number of years later, Cadence continued to be and still is the pride and joy of his life. He was so incredibly proud of her and all of her accomplishments. He then met and married Teresa Brewer. They were married on New Year's Day in 2019 at their home in Williams.

He worked for LaValla Sand and Gravel, Lee’s Plumbing, Sportsman’s Oak Island Lodge, Brad’s Plumbing and Heating, Ferrier’s Logging, and Marvin Windows. Jason enjoyed plumbing, welding and running heavy equipment. He was very good at every task he endeavored to take on.

Jason played hockey in high school and was always the jokester with friends and family. He loved hunting, fishing, snowmobiling, camping, 4-wheeling, and playing pool. He had a special tenderness for his dogs Willie, Gertie, Tucker & Abbey, and loved taking his dogs Bud and Sydney for rides. He even found a place in his heart for his cat “Kitty.” Jason had a tender, loving, and compassionate spirit, along with a smile that would light up any room. He was always willing to lend a hand to anyone in need.

He is survived by his wife, Teresa Brewer-LaValla, daughter Cadence LaValla, stepdaughter Ophelia Brewer; his parents Mark and Susan(Borg) LaValla; Grandpa James Bodahl, sisters Jody (Wes) Johnson, Cara (Nick) Brekke; nieces Halie (Nick), Christen (Shawn), Kathrine, Karley, and nephew Carson.
