Timothy J. Miovac, 66

February 16, 2023

Shortly after midnight on Monday, December 19, 2022, Timothy J. Miovac, beloved son, brother, nephew, cousin and friend, passed away with his brother by his side. He was 66 years old. Born in Lynwood, CA, Tim grew up in the Orange County area of Southern California.

When he was little he tried to help his daddy by using the garden hose to fill up the gas tank on his car. At the age of 7 he survived viral meningitis and later the usual childhood diseases. Juvenile rheumatoid arthritis put him in and out of the hospital with doctor visits and medical treatments. Added to that, at 10 years old, was a life-threatening battle with Victorian Flu. He spent over a month in a hospital oxygen tent. High fever, pneumonia, an infection around the heart and an experimental treatment almost killed him, but he survived. It was the arthritis that would, unfortunately, follow him throughout his life.

In his teens, with the arthritis in remission, he moved through a variety of jobs. He enjoyed longer and longer trips to northern Minnesota for hunting and fishing. After a stint operating and repairing heavy equipment at a sand and gravel pit he had enough of life in California and moved to Baudette, MN. He bought a big rig truck and worked with cousins hauling wood to the mills, gravel for the county and various other jobs. Arthritis eventually caused him to have a hip replacement and later a shoulder replacement that permanently disabled him. He continued helping his cousins on their farms in any way he could, along with other odd jobs in the area. He was well liked throughout the community and had a reputation of generously helping anybody who needed it.

December of 2020 he contracted a rare bacterial infection known as Q-Fever. He ended up at the Sanford Fargo ICU in critical condition, almost losing his life, but again he recovered. The final illness, that lead to his death, started out with symptoms similar to the previous Q-Fever. Again, he ended up in the Sanford ICU where they ruled out Q-Fever. As of this writing the exact cause of his death is unknown.

He is survived by parents John and Shirley, brother Christopher, aunties Loraine, Mildred, Nan, Kathy and cousins. Lots and lots of cousins. A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, May 27th, at 11 a.m. at the Border Evangelical Free Church – County Road 4 – Baudette, MN 56623.
